Welcome to the Canadian Australian Club!

For those who have been with the Club over the years. Thank you!

For those who are new to the Club, thank you for joining and please Like and Share our Facebook Page (http://goo.gl/yIX1iR); visit and join our MeetUp Group (http://goo.gl/d3xlXA); and register as an official member of the CAC by visiting (http://www.canadianaustralianclub.com/).

50 Year Anniversary

In 2017 we will be celebrating 50 years since the CAC was established! With this in mind, we have great plans and goals over the next two years and we would like to share our vision with you this year.

On 7 November 2014, I was voted in as President of the CAC for my second term. Looking back, last year was my inaugural term which gave me an opportunity to understand the processes, the community, and “get a feel” of how the club operates. This year we have bigger and better plans, but of course, we cannot do same without our member’s participation. If you have any ideas or comments, please contact the Committee at caccommittee@canadianaustralianclub.com.

The 2013 – 2014 Committee

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2013 – 2014 Committee:

  •          Event Coordinator:       Nalini Downie
  •          Treasurer:                     Kim Preminger
  •          Members:                     Zachary Kominar
  •          Volunteer Coordinator: Kathleen Prokopovish

Last year we held several successful events which included:

  •          Annual General Meeting
  •          Monthly Mixers upstairs at the Paragon Hotel
  •          Sea Kayaking
  •          International Pancake Day
  •          Ben Caplan Concert
  •          St Patrick’s Day
  •          Balmain Pirate Pub Crawl
  •          BMW Racing Carnival Schweppes Day at Randwick
  •          International Ice Hockey Tournament
  •          Canada Day
  •          Canadian American Film Festival

If you see any of the above committee members around at one of our events, please say hello and thank them for their dedication and commitment over the year.

Over the 2013 – 2014 year, we took some steps to grow our Club by creating a Meetup Group and placing more emphasis on social media such as our Facebook Page. As a consequence of same, we had:

  •          93 new members register to our Meetup Group;
  •          Increased our Facebook Likes from around 201 to 516;
  •          We at least doubled our bank balance;
  •          We had around 80 attendees at our December and February Monthly Mixers;
  •          We had around 100 attendees at our Canada Day Celebrations; and
  •          We received great reviews from our members for the growth of the Club over the year.

The 2014 – 2015 Committee

I am honoured to announce the new Committee members for the year 2014 – 2015:

  •          Event Coordinator:          Katie Zuzek and Colin Drane
  •          Treasurer:                       Kim Preminger
  •          Memberships:                 Mark Moore

For more information about our Committee, please visit http://goo.gl/ztFP6V.

I am excited to have the new committee volunteer their time to help me expand our membership and activities this year. With Katie and Colin being the event coordinators, together with Mark managing our memberships, I trust everyone will feel welcome at all of our events. Next time you attend one of events, please introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about yourself! Of course, our Club would not be the same without our great Treasurer, Kim who has been part of the Club for over 10 years!

Onwards and upwards!

The CAC has big plans and ambitions – to grow our Club so that it is more dynamic and fun! However, we cannot do this without our members spreading the word and joining our events. If all goes well, we envisage over 1,000 members by this time next year and with an increased membership we can hold bigger and better events at great venues.

If you know anyone out there, whether they are Canadian or otherwise, who likes talking hockey; enjoys the cold weather; pours maple syrup on their bacon and eggs; or loves the outdoors as much as we do, then please let them know of our existence and invite them out to our events.

Thank you to all for supporting the Canadian Australian Club and see you at our Christmas Monthly Mixer on 5 December 2014 (http://goo.gl/O9S6JS)!
