Oohhhh Canada!

While we in Sydney are attempting to dry out after a week of constant rain, thoughts may return to home, as our friends and family are getting ready to celebrate a long weekend, either by cottaging, heading downtown, or enjoying backyard BBQs.

While I'll take a week of rain over a week of snow, it is hard not to feel a little "displaced" at this time of year. This is why Canada Day is one of the most important events for the club, as it fosters a sense of community at a time where many of us could feel that twinge of homesickness. Also it's just nice at this time of year to be surrounded by people who sound like you!

So what have we been up to lately……

June saw our monthly mixer held at The Local Taphouse, where a very intimate group of four met on the rooftop patio. At the end of the month a group of 34 travelled to All Phones arena for the Canada vs USA International Ice Hockey match….more on that fun event below!

Some CAC members also joined the Quebec Oz Club for their Saint Jean Baptist Day celebrations, and believe you me, the Quebecoise can throw a great party!

June ended on a very high note, with a notable group of 75+ turning out for the annual CAC Canada Day event at the King St Brewhouse….a special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make it happen!!

July 1st finds the CAC recovering from our Canada Day party and continuing the Canadian celebrations at the Arthouse Hotel for lunch and dinner. Due to all the Canada Day shenanigans, there will be no monthly mixer this month, but keep your eye out for notices for all our August events.

Have a great Canada Day everyone!
