Thank you to everyone who came to
our Canada Day party!!!

With 75+ in attendance, 2kgs of real cheese curd for poutine, and some Canadian tunes, we managed to throw together
Canada Day at the King St Brewhouse.

Thank you to our volunteers:
Julie, Linda, Chris B, Sarah, Dale, Chris W, Kath and Kim,
it couldn't happen without you!

Thank you to the King St Brewhouse, O'Canada, the Sydney Canadian Consulate, and CAC members Linda and Chris for
their donation of prizes!

Also thank you to Marie Louise Hannan and her family for attending, and giving a wonderful little speech to kickstart the afternoon!

One of the highlights of the day was when
Deborah Markovic Edwards generously
 shared some maple leaf cookies!!

Here's the recipe  (makes 60 cookies)

1 cup softened butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup real maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsps. baking soda\
1/2 tsp salt > sift these 3 together
4 cups plain flour /

Preheat oven to 175. Grease cookie sheets.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Add the egg, syrup and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Stir the sifted ingredients into bowl until well blended.
Divide the dough into 4 rolls, wrap each roll in cling wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Roll out and use any cookie cutter you like. Once you've cut out the shapes and placed them on a cookie sheet, put the sheet back in the fridge for about 20 minutes, so they retain their shape, and don't get too puffy.
The red rolled icing comes for a bake shop because red food colouring only gets bright pink.
