    A REVIEW FROM OUR SUPPORTERS:

    Canadian Australian Club

    2014 Pancake Day – 2nd March 2014

We arrived at Pancake on the Rocks on March 2nd for our first ever CAC International Pancake Day Breakfast.

The pancakes were thick and delicious and the jams and creams were really nice but NOT as good as the genuine Canadian maple syrup and mints which were epic!

There were lots of great prizes in the raffle and we got to draw out some of the winning tickets with Mario, the Consul General.  We won a Canadian flag beach towel and some Maple cookies (biscuits).

The restaurant was great and the toilets were really, really nice, very posh and tiled throughout (Oliver J)!

The whole morning was really, really fun but we’re glad we arrived early as, as we were leaving, there was a massive queue/line up all the way up the stairs and into the street.  We look forward to next year’s event!

Oh yes, as the picture shows, the Americans were not impressed! At 4:00am on 22 February 2014 we joined a fully packed Cheers Bar on George Street with about another 200 diehard Canadian Hockey Fans. For some, it was a very early morning; for others, it was a very late night. Whatever it took to get the fans out to support Canada, there were 200 fans chuckling and cheering at the American defeat.

Yes it’s true, not only did Canada win Gold in both Mens and Womens (Ice) Hockey, we also won Gold in both Mens and Womens CURLING! Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as many fans watched the Curling, however, we are certain it was just as exciting as the hockey, at least for the Ozzies (they seem to love that sport). In any case, thank you John Lerner for organising a last minute event at the Hard Rock Café. With hundreds of Canadians and a few Swedish turning up, it was a night to remember (for the Canadians) and a night to forget (for the Swedish).

This event has reached a maximum amount of registrations and is now closed.

Please note that this is a 'pay by cash only' at the tables when you order, so please ensure that you find a bank machine BEFORE you arrive to the venue. With 45 people attending, it is sure to be a GREAT time!

We would also like to give a big thanks to Dave at "The Canadian Way" for sponsoring this event! See below to find our more about The Canadian Way!

We are proud to introduce our newest sponsor / member! For those who joined us at our February Monthly Mixer, you had the pleasure of tasting shots of Canadian Maple Syrup infused with Ice Wine. Yes, that’s right – Maple Syrup and Ice Wine in one-go. If you haven’t tried it and want to get your hands on it, please visit https://thecanadianway.com.au/.

The Canadian Way has special deals only to our Members and it is taking orders at most of our events. Please introduce yourself to David and feel free to buy something for Damin.

When you meet David Cost-Chretien, you will soon discover how passionate he is about his halibut. It’s our understanding that it’s the best damn tasting salmon in the world and the only fish that’s safe for pregnant women as it contains no mercury. If you want to get your hands on some of this, please feel free to contact David on (02) 9570 7910 / 0421 445 538.

    SPEAKING OF SALMON…

VANCOUVER - Following months of speculation, Vancouver Police Chief Jim Chu held a press conference today where he confirmed the existence of a cell phone video taken months ago, on which Vancouver Mayor, Gregor Robertson, appears to be smoking Pacific salmon.

“Through a thorough investigation, we have been able to recover two videos which are consistent with previous reports in the media… I think it’s fair to say that Mr. Robertson is in the video, the contents of which... I can only say that it appears he is smoking some kind of animal product, possibly fish,” said Chu.

The mayor held a very brief press conference outside of his office, where he stated that the police should “release the tape and let the people decide for themselves. Maybe they’ll realize I was only smoking halibut, or possibly a light sea bass.”

The revelation has caused a stir within the city public. Chu said that no criminal charges will be made at this time, but did add that he was, “disappointed.”

“I thought he was more of a grilled salmon guy.”
