Feel free to drop by often!  Note also that these articles will be included in the monthly CAC eNewsletter sent to members each month. A list of these articles also appears on the front page of the website.

This may interest some of you... feel free to fill out their survey if you'd like to lend a hand...  (Please note the date... we received this too late to get it to you by the March 30 deadline, but your views may still be useful if you feel strongly about any of the issues they mention)

    ---
    The Canadian Expat Association
has been invited to participate in a Global Canadians Workshop on Tuesday, March 30th.

This event, held in Ottawa by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, brings together parties that share a common interest in the success of Canadians living abroad.

The work shop will be attended by Valérie Bolduc, Director, Community Development and Advocacy and we are looking for your input.

The linked survey lists some of the ideas that DFAIT has tabled to improve their ability to engage Canadians overseas for Consular and Emergency Services.  Please take a look and provide us with your views.

I would also invite you to forward this email to any other Canadians you know living abroad.  The more voices we hear, the better we are able to represent you.

    Participate Here

Thank you for letting us know your views.  As we strive to become a stronger voice for you in Ottawa, your participation is key.

    Sincerely,

    Allan Nichols

Just one month before Canada hosts the biggest, most exciting winter sporting event in four years, Air Canada wanted to give you a brief update on its news:

Awards – Best Airline in North America
The flagship Canadian airline ended last year with news, just before Christmas, it had been won four top honours in 2009 Business Traveler Awards including “Best North American airline for business class service” and “Best North American airline for international travel”.  Its inflight service and flight attendants were also recognised in the awards.

These awards follow the Global Travel awards in November 2009 when Air Canada was voted the Best Airline in Canada and the Best Airline in North America by around 25,000 readers of Global Traveler magazine in an international survey of frequent business travellers.

    iPhone and Blackberry Apps
Air Canada has a well-earned reputation for introducing innovative technology to improve every passenger’s travel experience.  Late last year saw the introduction of flight apps for both iPhone and Blackberry to enable convenient and easy real-time access to a wide-range of flight information including; retrieving electronic boarding passes, tracking flight information in real-time, receiving notification of itinerary changes and obtaining other details about Air Canada flights.

    Inflight Internet Trials

The airline also began trials to offer its customers Gogo(R) Inflight Internet service on board select flights on the carrier's Toronto-Los Angeles and Montreal-Los Angeles routes. This will enable customers to email, work and surf the net while flying.  During the trial customers can access the service using their own standard, Wi-Fi equipped laptop at a cost of US $9.95 per flight or Personal Electronic Device (PED) at a cost of US $7.95 per flight.

    e-Check in

Almost 12 months ago, the airline began e-check in for Sydney Airport where passengers can dodge queues and simply swap their online boarding pass for a card one, drop their bags and head for the plane.

Inflight Entertainment all the way – keep the headsets on until you disembark!
Not only does Air Canada offers hundreds of hours worth of latest movies, classics and French and Canadian films, along with music, games, tv shows and more, customers are able to start watching movies and enjoy other on-board entertainment from the moment they take their seats on the aircraft up to the time they disembark.

    Travelling to the US?
If you’re travelling to the US, Air Canada customers from Australia benefit from a simplified airport experience for connecting to America by clearing US Customs at Vancouver Airport and continuing your travels on as a domestic passenger.

Air Canada is the only airline to offer non-stop direct service from Sydney to Vancouver in its new Boeing 777 long range aircraft with spacious cabins (completely flat beds in business class), fantastic personal inflight entertainment system and friendly Canadian service.

The daily non-stop direct flight currently departs Sydney at 12.15pm and arrives at 7.25am (same day), shaving hours off the previous travel time.

If you have photos taken at club events, why not share them with the rest of us? Adding your photos to the website is easy, and any club member can do it... all you need is a free account on Flickr, the online photo sharing service.

To add photos to any of these slide shows, just upload them to YOUR OWN Flickr account and tag the photos you wish to contribute with the tag "cacsyd".  That's it! Once you do this, like magic, your photos will just appear in the collection on the Photo Gallery page.

Looking forward to seeing your contribution!
