Ashton College Advocates for In-Demand Careers

Australian-Canadian relations boast some of the strongest ties amongst Commonwealth Countries. These strong ties not only promote an “open door” mentality for Canadian and Australian citizens alike but entrepreneurial opportunities as well. One such opportunity is in the field of Immigration Consultation.

Immigration Consultation is an in-demand career  which provides Canadian’s living in Australia with the extraordinary opportunity to not only help people achieve their dreams, but enter into new entrepreneurial adventures.  These opportunities are especially prevalent now that the Government of Canada has launched a new Visa program to lure budding entrepreneurs to Canada.

As a Registered Immigration Consultant, you have the opportunity to work either full-time or part-time making this a truly flexible career with ample opportunity for success.

The Immigration Consultant Diploma (IMCD) is offered online through Ashton College in Vancouver, Canada. The IMCD program is accredited by the ICCRC. This online program gives students the opportunity to enter this exciting field without being present on campus. Using the latest in education technology, students taking part in this collaborative study program will interact with their instructor and their peers using online education tools provided by Google Apps for Higher Education.

For more information on programs and start dates please contact the program adviser at or 1-866-759-6006 or visit us online

At 11 am on 11 November 1918 The First World War came to an end after more than four years continuous warfare.

To commemorate all those who lost their lives during the Great War, each year on 11 of November across the world are organized commemorative ceremonies. For this reason 11 of November has become known as the Remembrance Day. Part of ceremony is a one minute's silence at 11 am.

For those interested in commemorating this holdiay, here are a few services that are advertised on the RSL website.

    Remembrance Sunday
    10th November Various RSL sub-Branches

    Remembrance Day Service
    11th November Cenotaph, Martin Place - 10:15am

11th November 113 AGH Memorial Chapel, Concord Hospital - 10:30am

    11th November ANZAC Memorial - 11:00am

In Australia, on 11 November 1993 at 11 am, the remains of an unknown Australian soldier from World War I were entombed with military honors in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

In many instances Remembrance Day is using the poppy as a symbol. This is a result of Canadian military physician John McCrae's poem In Flanders Fields.

At our Thanksgiving party, Philip Bell kindly donated a large scale print from his photography exhibition EARTHscale. Philip is now collaborating with the CAC to fundraise, where the club will earn the profits from any sales made through the CAC.

All images can be ordered and priced by contacting Philip at Any purchased prints can be picked up at the CAC AGM on November 8th or the X-Mas Monthly Mixer on December 6th. Prints can also be mailed, and would make excellent Christmas presents!

Philip has a variety of Canadian and Australian images, all of which couldn't be included in this one section. Please email Kathleen at to see more images.

A keen photographer for many decades, originally in analogue black/white, Philip has taken up digital colour photography after retiring as a professor of media studies at UNSW.

His Canadian images come mostly from Alberta mountains and elevated lakes, and from the Inside Passage, B.C. He has included a couple of reminders of Montreal and Quebec City, as well.
