The New York Times bestselling author, YouTube sensation and one of our favourite Canadians, Colonel Chris Hadfield will be in Australia for a series of live events during August of this year – the Sydney date is August 18th.Referred to as “the most famous astronaut since Neil Armstrong,” Hadfield continues to bring the marvels of science and space travel to everyone he encounters.  Lateralevents.com

Grab some popcorn and check out the 2015 Sydney Film Festival running from June 3-14.  There are a few Canadian films and lots more to entertain you.  Details can be found at http://www.sff.org.au/.

Did you know that Sydney also has a silent film festival?  On June 14th, the festival will showcase the Australian premiere of the digitally restored and acclaimed documentary, The Silent Enemy (1930). This fascinating silent era film with soundtrack portrays the indigenous inhabitants in the wilds of northern Canada.  It is a serious attempt to depict Ojibwa Indians living below that same line in Quebec and northern Ontario before their lives were forever changed by Caucasian incursions.  For more information go to www.ozsilentfilmfestival.com.au

Canadian Firefighter Rudy Pospisil from Vancouver, BC is riding his bicycle around the globe for cancer charity and has already covered 1/2 of the Earth.
